Early life Douglas Little was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford (now St Edward's College). He then studied at the University of Oxford, where he read law at Corpus Christi College and was called to the Bar at Middle Temple in 1962. Legal career Little served as a barrister from 1962 to 1997 at Matrix Chambers, specialising in litigation relating to the Financial Services Authority, the Industrial and Commercial Court and the House of Lords. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1983. He became a Serjeant-at-Law in 1984 and was promoted to a Bencher in 1989. In 1997 he became a Deputy High Court Judge. He was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1999 and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 2005 and retired in June 2017. Little was also appointed a Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1999 and became an Honorary Bencher of the Middle Temple in 2009. Appointment to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council Little was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1999 and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 2005. On 22 January 2017, Little was appointed a member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Decorations Little was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's 1991 Birthday Honours.
